Paignton Community & Sports College......at the heart of the Torbay Sport Partnership
Paignton Community & Sports College was invited to apply to host the Torbay Sport Partnership School Sport Partnership) in 2002. The College has continued this important role and plays a key role in ensuring that the Partnership operates effectively within its remit, as explained in the Government’s National ‘Physical Education and Sport Strategy for Young People’ (PESSYP).
The Sports College provides governance for the School Sport Partnership and plays an advocate role for physical education and sport across schools, within the Local Authority and with other agencies.
Overall role
· Advocacy of physical education and sport across their family of schools and the School Sport Partnership schools.
· Governance of the partnership to develop local accountability.
· Strategic influence with other schools in the local authority.
· Strategic influence with the local authority and other organisations/partners in the local authority area.
· Effective line management of Partnership Development Manager and School Sport Partnership infrastructure.
· Host venue for School Sport Partnership core staff.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks
· Work with colleagues from other schools to advocate whole school benefits of engagement in the Physical Education and Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP) and the School Sport Partnership.
· Provide evidence to colleagues of the impact of the PESSYP strategy on whole school standards and attainment.
· Support the Partnership Development Manager and the partnership steering group to develop a strategic plan to achieve the partnership outcomes.
· Work with the partnership steering group to monitor, evaluate and review the performance of the partnership.
· Work with local authority officers and other key partners to develop and implement a strategy to deliver the PESSYP agenda.
· Work with the local authority to influence other schools to engage in the PESSYP strategy.
· To provide effective line management and performance management of the Partnership Development Manager.
· To support the Partnership Development Manager in the leadership and management of the partnership infrastructure enabling the school to be champions of the 5 hour offer.
· To provide office space and resources for the Partnership Development Manager and other core staff within the hub site.
· To assist the Partnership Development Manager with the financial governance of the partnership.
The Hub Site Physical Education Department
To ensure the provision of high quality physical education for all young people within the hub site and support advocacy of the 5 hour offer.
